Wang Wei hopes a lifting of the trade ban.

July 8th : China Daily publishes the intervention of Wang We, director of conservation and wild life department for State forestry administration, realized the day before at the workshop upon tigerfarms. Wang Wei hopes a lifting of the trade ban. He says that tiger wine, for instance (product realized from tiger powdered bones) has a true therapeutic value, as it could be proved by its continuous use in Chinese medication since millenaries. He considers as a heavy loss for human safety the fact tiger bones are not used at the present time. He notes that there are 5000 tigers in tiger farms, and 1000 cubs are born each year.
Breeding techniques in these establishments are much more efficient than in 1990 years.
Dead individuals since the beginning of the ban (1993) have been stochpiled in frozen rooms (or disolved in rice alcohol to obtain only bones).
These operations have realized towards 10 000 cadavers.
Answers to this intervention expressed different points of view, from the continuation of trade ban coupled with destruction of stockpiled carcasses, to a precautionous lifting. Financiary compensations for tiger farms working under a maintained ban has also been evoked.
